About Me

I am an assistant professor at Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia, Canada. Before joining DAL, I was a senior machine learning engineer at Twitter, focusing on extremely large-scale recommender systems research. I also worked as a machine learning researcher for Borealis AI, the research organization of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). I received my Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, where I worked with Professor Scott Sanner. I worked and studied in several countries, including China, Australia and the United States.

Research Interest

My research focuses on conducting conditional inference on deep learning models, extending both Probabilistic Graphical Models and Deep Learning Models for large-scale downstream applications. I usually push my research into concrete applications, such as Conversational Recommendation Systems, Classic Planning, Reliable Machine Learning (AI Safety). I am very proud that my works raise many interests from the industry.

My publication record partially reflects my research interest. Please check them out under the publication tag.
